Fair Use Policy

Last Updated: April 2025

To maintain fairness and reliability for all our clients, we apply reasonable usage expectations to our hosted services and support.

Looking for our support procedures and service response expectations? Click here to view our Support Guidelines & Procedures.

1. Support Usage

Support services included in select hosting packages are subject to reasonable and proportionate use. While we are always happy to assist, excessive or continual reliance on our team for general web development or administrative tasks may fall outside the scope of included support.

  • Support is intended for resolving issues directly related to your hosting or service uptime.
  • Requests requiring major content changes, redesign, or third-party integration work may incur additional charges.
  • We reserve the right to flag misuse and propose a custom support agreement where usage exceeds normal expectations.

2. Resource Allocation

Shared Hosting: Multiple clients share hosting infrastructure. We actively monitor performance and reserve the right to limit resources (CPU, bandwidth, storage) in the event that a single tenant's activity impacts other users.

VPS Hosting: You have pre-defined resource usage limits as per your hosting plan; if you outgrow the limits imposed by your plan, we can offer a plan upgrade. We may be able to horizontally scale your plan (boost resources) without downtime, but this may not always be possible. This will be discussed with you, if applicable, at the point of upgrade.

3. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on our infrastructure:

  • Hosting or distributing malware or harmful content
  • Spamming or unsolicited bulk emailing
  • Illegal file sharing or copyright infringement
  • Cryptocurrency mining
  • DoS attacks of any kind, as well as anything legally forbidden per the 1990 Computer Misuse Act

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate services found in violation of this policy.

Should we detect any activity that constitutes a legal or regulatory breach on our infrastructure, we reserve the right to report it to the relevant authorities.

4. Amendments

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in operational procedures or legal compliance requirements. The latest version will always be available on our website.

5. Compliance

At JB Cyber Services, we build infrastructure and services with compliance in mind and take reasonable measures to support alignment with key legislation such as the UK GDPR, PCI DSS, and FOI (Freedom of Information Act) where applicable.

However, where clients operate self-managed environments or deploy their own applications or services on our infrastructure, the responsibility for ensuring full compliance with legal and regulatory obligations rests with the client. This includes, but is not limited to, data handling practices, content management, and the implementation of access controls.

While we are happy to advise or offer consultancy around compliance best practices, we cannot be held liable for breaches or non-compliance arising from configurations, applications, or practices outside our direct control.

6. Contact

If you have questions about this Fair Use Policy or believe your usage has been incorrectly flagged, please reach out to our team at enquire@jbcyberservices.com or by phone at +44 330 122 6991.

We take pride in our client-first approach and strive to support our clients in every way possible. While we aim to remain flexible and helpful, this Fair Use Policy outlines clear boundaries around what constitutes reasonable support. In certain cases, we may offer assistance beyond what is included in your plan; however, such support is provided at our discretion and does not set a precedent. Future requests for similar support may be subject to review or additional charges.
